STUDY OBJECTIVE   To evaluate the ability of GHK-Cu containing face creams to deliver effective skin benefits.

STUDY DESIGN   GHK-Cu face creams were evaluated in two separate clinical studies

GHK-Cu Face cream vs. Retinol (0.075%) Benchmark

  • Eight-week double blind controlled study
  • 19 female subjects with mild to moderate photodamage

GHK-Cu Face cream vs. Placebo

  • Twelve-week double blind placebo controlled study
  • 67 female subjects with mild to moderate photodamage
  • Pinch recoil measurements in the crow’s feet area
  • Ballistometer measurement of skin firmness
  • Ultrasound measurement of skin thickness and density

STUDY SIGNIFICANCE   The benefits of tripeptide-copper complex containing preparations have been documented in the area of wound healing. At the time of the study, there were, however, no published studies in the area of facial skin benefits for them.

RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS    By week one, the test formula delivered significant

improvements in skin laxity, clarity, and overall appearance as compared to placebo. Significant improvement in fine lines was noted at week two and wrinkles at week eight over placebo. Significantly improved elasticity properties were consistent with ultrasound increases in overall skin density and thickness.

Subjects indicated strong acceptance of product performance and there were no adverse objective or subjective irritation findings. In summary, these studies demonstrate that GHK-Cu containing treatments rapidly deliver significant and sustained improvements in the appearance.

In a 12-week placebo controlled study1 of 67 subjects, the Copper Peptide Complex cream showed statistically significant changes in average clinical scores, indicating improvement in skin condition in week 12 when compared with placebo.
